Holes
Did you know that 8 million copies of holes have been sold. Holes the book was very different from the movie. I have found three major changes that were different from the book, like the movie changed the song, how it rained at the end, and him having his grandfather in his house.
I thought this was a bad idea. The movie change the song that the yelnats have been singing for generations. The movie writers wanted it to rhyme but it was not supposed to rhyme because it was translated from lafian.They made it “the sky just a little bit softer” instead of “the bark on the tree was a little bit softer”. I loved the book’s song the best because it actually sounded nice and sweet like a soft pillow.
I thought this was a good change. It rained before Stanley and Zero got in the car with his accountant. In the book they got in the car and only one drop of rain came from the sky. In the movie it started raining pretty hard. I thought the writer did this to make it a happy and funny moment. I also thought of it as a slap in the face to the warden.
I also thought it was good that Stanley’s grandfather was not in the book. I thought they put him in the movie to make the yelnats funny and cheerful. I also liked the change because he was fun and happy.I really liked the movie better.
This is why the book “Holes” is very different than the movie”Holes”. Those were the changes like how they changed the song,when it started raining,and Stanley grandfather. Both “Holes” were equally great, I recommend watching and reading “Holes”.
