HOLES ESSAY
One thing that was different was the fact that Trout Walker did not make Kate walk on the hot sand to torture her. Also the way she died was different. In the book she was in her pajamas at dusk and Trout made her walk on the sand on her bare feet with her feet tied. Then got bit on her foot by a yellow spotted lizard. In the movie she was sitting there by Sam's boat thinking about him. Then Trout walked up and said “show me the loot” then Kate said you will be looking for that loot for a long time and you will never find it” then she pulled out a yellow spotted lizard and killed herself. I liked the movie better because it is more dramatic and adds more effect. I think the change was made because it is more dramatic and less scary for kids and if it is not that scary for kids more people will watch it.
Another difference was that Kate was not on the boat when sam got shot. In the book Sam and Kate were rowing away in Sam’s boat and trout rammed into it and shot Sam. In the movie sam is rowing back to his onion farm and trout shot him. I liked the movie better because it didn't show Sam up close getting shot. This change was made because it would be too violent to show someone getting shot.
third difference in holes is when it started raining. In the book it started raining when Stanley and Zero were in the car it said a single drop of rain hit camp green lake that day and ever since then it has rained almost every day. In the movie it started pouring rain right before Stanley and Zero were about to leave
