why Thanksgiving is important

Did you know 276 million Americans celebrate Thanksgiving? That’s crazy! Thanksgiving is important because you spend quality time with your family. You can see what's going to happen in the future or catch them up on school projects that are due after break. You can have family members that can’t come very often bring you your Christmas presents and have a mini Christmas. My favorite time is when they tell me funny stories about their animals that happened when I was gone.

My second favorite thing to do on Thanksgiving is to watch the Macy’s Day Parade! I love watching the big floats going down the street and the people marching. My family and I watch the parade while my mom finishes dinner. We do this before every Thanksgiving. My favorite part is when my dog comes and curls up in my lap and we watch it together and my family laughs at me.

My third favorite thing about Thanksgiving is the food! When my mom brings out that hot and juicy turkey, my taste buds start to tingle. Then everyone calls what part of the turkey they want. It’s always a competition to see who wants the leg. When we are eating, everyone brings fun ideas for the future such as going to the movies or going to a festival. I love my family even though we are all unique and special. Quality time with family, watching the Macy’s Day Parade, and the food are the three reasons why I love Thanksgiving.
