St. Agnes

Hello, my name is St. Agnes of Rome. I was born in the year 291 A.D into a wealthy Christian family. During my early life, I was really popular. Many men would follow me everywhere I went. I was only 12 years old when I was lead to the altar at the Minerva in Rome to offer my incense. I followed Jesus by saying “Christ is my bridegroom”. I refused to marry the governor's son. This angered the king so he strip me down in public. In spite of that, I didn’t have fear. St. Ambrose wrote that on my way to my execution center I was more happy than most people on their wedding day. I would rather die than give up my faith. There is one miracle attributed to me. The miracle happened when I was stripped and one man dared to looked at me. He got struck by lightning and was blinded. I prayed for him and a few days later he regained his sight. I died in the year 304 A.D and had a happy death of being a martyr. I died around the age 12 or 13. I was buried at the site known as Via Nomentana in Rome. I became a saint after I died. My feast day is January 21. On my feast day, two lambs are brought to be blessed by the pope. I am the patron saint of young girls, women, and The Children of Mary.
