Differences Between the Book and the Movie Holes
The book Holes sold over 1.5 million copies all over the world.The movie Holes made 71.4 million dollars in the box office. Judging from these reviews, a person could assume that this story is one of the best storylines of the 20th century. It is hard to believe that one book made millions of people smile. The Holes franchise has a very successful book and movie but they have a lot of differences. Differences between the movie and the book Holes are kissin Kate Barlow's death, Sam's death, and Mr. Sir's real name.
One of the things they changed in the movie Holes and the book Holes is Kissin Kate Barlow's death. In the book, she died laughing and was in her cabin when Trout and Linda Walker came to kill her. In the movie version, she died teasing Trout and was leaning against Sam's boat when she died. Also, she killed herself with a yellow spotted lizard. I think the reason they changed it was because it looks a lot better and to save some more time. I like movie version because it added more to her death and I could see it better in my mind than in the book.
Another thing they changed between the movie and the book Holes was Sam's death. In the book, Trout Walker crashed his steamboat in to Sam's boat and then Sam got shot in the water. Kate Barlow was also in the boat when it happened. In the movie, Sam was shot. Then, Trout’s boat crashed into Sam's boat. Kate Barlow was not in the boat with Sam but was unstad watching from afar. They probably made the change because they did not want to be grim or very sad, and probably because it's kind of offensive. I like the book better because it has a lot more action a lot more detail.
Another thing they added in the movie and was not in the book was the arrest of Mr. Sir. The book did not have this scene. It didn't even tell what happened to them after Camp Green Lake got shut down. In the movie, the person with the lawyer knew who Mr. Sir was and arrested him and called him his real name that sounded like a girl’s name so the campers teased him. I think they added it to add some more story to Mr. Sir and the reason they arrested him in the first place.I like the movie version better because the book did not even have it and it's pretty funny.
The book Holes is very successful book and the movie Holes is also very successful movie. Some of the major differences between the book and the movie are Kissin Kate Barlow's death, Sam's death, and Mr. Sir's real name. As the reviews show, these fantasies are very popular and made a lot of money and Louis Sachar is a great author. Holes is one of the best movies and books. It was a lot of fun to read and watch Holes
