Basic Facts

Hawaii is located in the southwest region of the United States. Hawaii has no bordering states because it is in the Pacific Ocean. Hawaii covers 10,931 square miles, making it the forty-seventh state in size. There are 132 islands big and small that string together to make up the lands of Hawaii. Most are made up of bits of coral and rock.

The climate region in Hawaii is tropical. In Hawaii it is almost always sunny and warm, you wouldn't get too much rain, and it wouldn't be too cold in the winter. The average high temperature  is 75°F and the average low is 68°F. The record high is 100°F and the record low is 12°F. With all the beautiful weather, one would think that Hawaii has a gentle environment, but it is far from it. The Hawaiian islands contain the world's most active volcano, Kilauea.

hawaii

Hawaii, also known as "The Big Island", spans as far as 4,038 square miles. It was formed by five volcanic eruptions in the ocean. These volcanoes are Kohal, Hualalai, Mauna Loa, Mauna Kea, and  Kilauea. Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea are the highest points in the state. They are volcanoes along with Kilauea, the most active volcano in the world. When people go to Hawaii, the number one thing on their list of stuff to do is see the lava flow into the ocean. Sometimes people can take the igneous rock that has cooled down.

Maui

Next is the land region Maui, nicknamed the "The Valley Island". Maui gets its name from the many canyons. These canyons are formed by water  flowing through the mountains. There are also low isthmuses that once housed busy sugar plantations. Maui is home to the biggest dormant volcano in the world, Helekika.

Kahoolawe

Kahoolawe is the smallest island. It was used for target practice for the military. In 2003 Hawaii gained control of the small island. No civilians live there. Hawaii is developing this island to be a cultural reserve.

Molokai

Molokai has three regions the Eastern rugged mountains, platus, and Central fertile plains. The western part of the island is dry with cattle ranches. The island is home to a famous colony for leprosy victims and the colony were Father Damien worked. Molokai is nicknamed "The Friendly Island".

Conclusion

When one considers the climate and beautiful island regions,  it is clear that Hawaii is paradise. Hawaii is a gorgeous place to see with your own eyes from the tip of the mountains to the grains of sand on the coasts. Many people have traveled from island to island trying not to miss anything. With the music, dancing, and paradise feel I think Bruno Mars explained it perfectly with this quote “Hawaii is paradise. It sounds cheesy to say it, but there is music in the air there.”
