Distracted Driving
“When your distracted, whos driving?” More countries are passing laws to restrict distracted driving. The most known cause of distracted driving is texting and driving. Another cause of distracted driving can be eating. Putting on makeup while driving is another type of distracted driving. I believe that if people stopped texting, eating, and so on, there would be less and less car crashes every day.
First off, a big distraction while driving is texting. About ten out of every four car accidents in the United states is caused by drivers texting and driving. Texting and driving today is the leading cause of death in the United states, which is now replacing drunk driving. If people text and drive, they have a very low chance of survival. Finally, we all know that texting and driving is illegal; that is why we don't do it.
Eating and driving is just as dangerous as texting and driving or any other kind of distracted driving. Eating while driving is one of the most common forms of distracted driving. Eating and driving requires 1 or 2 hands, depending on the food the driver is eating. This can cause a serious wreck. Lastly, eating and driving is common for people to do, which would be the reason why its a common kind of distracted driving.
Finally, applying makeup while driving can be more dangerous than you think. In 2009, about 450,000 crashes a year were being caused by women applying makeup. In the state of Nevada, you can get a ticket for putting on makeup while driving. In 2011, about 3,000 people in the United states were killed by putting on makeup while driving. In summary, people should not apply makeup while driving.
Texting, eating, and putting on makeup while driving are all ways of distracted driving. Every single hour of the day, someone dies; it is sad, but you can change that. You should stop driving while being distracted.
