Holes Essay
One major difference from the book to the movie was Stanley's bully. in the book he was a bully to stanley and would flush his notebook down the toilet. He was not in the movie. I like The book version better than the movie version because he is the reason stanley got out of camp green lake because he witnessed stanley being hit by the pair of shoes. This change was made Because of production cost, the movie would of cost more with another actor and adding the bully would make the movie longer.
Another difference from both the book version and the movie version was Stanley’s overweightness. In the book he was overweight. In the movie he was skinny. I liked the movie version more because that’s what i thought stanley would look like. This change was made because they did not want a character who is fat and overweight so that people who watch the movie like the character.
Another big difference is Mr. pendanskis name. In the book his name was mr. pendanski. In the movie his name was Dr. pendanski. I liked the book version more because it made more sense for Mr. pendanskis name to be Mr. pendanski but it does not make sense in the movie because he does not dress/do any doctor work. Because it would of been funny for his name to be Dr. pendanski and set it up to where they say that he's not even a doctor.
Another difference is the grandpa in the movie. He was not in the book. In the movie he was a funny guy. I like the movie version because it added another character that was a part of some of the events. The creators of the movie added him because they needed more actors so they just added another character.
Another change was Stanley's dad’s inventions. In the book, he was trying to find out how to recycle shoes. In the movie, he is trying to take away shoe odor. I like the movie version better because in the movie he accidently succeeded shoe odor. This change was made Because the creators who made the movie thought that it would make more sense for stanley’s dad to make a cure for shoe odor.
