D.A.R.E. Essay

In a school year, hundreds of kids do D.A.R.E. in the morning or afternoon. D.A.R.E. is a great way to tell a kid what they can and can’t have. There are three important things I learned in the D.A.R.E. program: the effects of meth, dealing with bullies, and different ways to deal with stress.

The effects of meth are tremendously dangerous. Some of the things I learned about it are what is in meth, how it affects humanity, and why people use it. Some of the things in meth are Drano, iodine crystals, lye, pool acid, antifreeze, camping fuel, paint thinner, and starter fluid. It causes rotting teeth and meth picks which are scabs of the person picking at their skin repeatedly. Even with these terrible side effects, people use meth for the rush of dopamine it causes after you have it. All in all, meth is not good for you.

Dealing with bullies was another thing I learned. To deal with bullies you need to tell an adult the five things  Who, When, What, Where, and Why. Who: who was bullying you? When: when did the person start bullying you? Was it two days ago or three? What: what kind of bullying was it? It could be cyberbullying. Where is the bully bullying you? Was it on the playground? Why: why do you think the bully would be bullying you? Is it because you think you made them mad? Who: who do you think is bullying you? Is it the kid Sacajawaya who lives next door? These are the five things you need to know if someone is bullying you so you can tell an adult what is happening.

I also learned about different ways to deal with stress in the D.A.R.E. program. Stress can be the hardest part of a person’s life and dealing with it can be even harder. What can cause stress? Every person has different ways they get stressed out but for a lot of people work stresses them out. How can stress affect a normal human’s life? Stress often causes less sleep and sometimes sleep paralysis, but stress also sometimes causes people over 21 to start uncontrollably drinking. Stress can be dealt with in many different ways. One of my favorites is meditation which is the calming of the mind.

The effects of meth, dealing with bullies, and different ways to deal with stress are three of the topics that were shown that I learned about through the D.A.R.E. program. These are things kids all around the world should know and learn in D.A.R.E. To learn more about D.A.R.E. go to D.A.R.E.org.
