                          Saint Luigi Scrosoppi of Udine

Hello, my name is Saint Luigi Scrosoppi of Udine. I was born August 4, 1804 in Udine, Italy. During my early life, I grew up into an atmosphere of faith and christian charity. Both of my brothers were ordained as priests. Drought, famine, typhus, and smallpox hit my home region when I was eleven or twelve. Seeing the misery of the poor and all the orphans made me heartbroken. In my teen years, I felt a call to priesthood. I became a deacon in 1826.  In 1846, I joined the Oratory of Saint Philip Neri. I opened a school and home for deaf girls on March 7, 1857. I died April 3, 1884 from a skin disease called pemphigus. I was canonized on June 10, 2001 by John Paul II. My feast day is April 3, and I am the patron saint of soccer.

Gamble.
