There are 75,000 related deaths each year to alcohol. This is one reason I want to keep myself away from alcohol. The D.A.R.E program taught me how to keep myself healthy and away from drugs and alcohol. Through the D.A.R.E program I was taught what drugs can do to me, how to say no, and how to problem solve.

One thing D.A.R.E taught me is what drugs can do to my body. Drugs and substances such as tobacco can cause yellow teeth, bad breath, wrinkles, and dry skin. Drugs can cause you to lose lots of money. Drugs can even make you lose your job. Drugs can hurt your relationship with parents and friends. Drugs can also hurt your health and give you lung cancer. They can even kill you!! This is why I want to keep myself perfectly healthy and alert.

Another thing D.A.R.E taught me is how to say no. To say no is important in case  someone asks you if you want drugs. Sometime you just have to walk away. Don't hang around people or talk to strange people who smoke, drink alcohol, or abuse any other types of substances. Have good friends that you trust. This is why I would never go around people who smoke and do drugs; it is not cool.

D.A.R.E also taught me how to problem solve. Problem solving can be in important because when your in a bad situation and don't know what to do, you can talk to your parents to help resolve the problem. You could also go talk to a friend that you trust. Also, think of what you’re going to say. Dont say yes to be cool. Think of what drugs can do to you. Then think of the definition of D.A.R.E (DefIne,Assess, Respond, Evaluate.)

In conclusion, I would not know what I know today without D.A.R.E. It has taught me what drugs and alcohol can do to you. D.A.R.E teaches you how to get out of risky situations. I pledge to never do drugs and pressure my friends into doing drugs. If you ever think of doing drugs think of the consequences, say no, and think of a way to get yourself out of it. Just sit down for a minute and think about how drugs can affect your life.
