Christmas Morning

“Ahh!!”, I screeched with excitement, finally arriving at my grandparents house. "This is going to be the best Christmas yet! I picked out the best presents to give to my family,” I said with a little laughter. I jumped out of the car and grabbed my dog who was acting crazy because she hadn't seen my family in forever. We ran inside and gave everybody hugs, when I smelled the salty and savory smelling chicken.

I saw a big basket of chocolate and hurried over to grab a handful, stuffing them in my pocket for later. Realizing my stomach was hurting because I was so hungry, I asked my grandma if we could eat now, She replied, “Yes of course.” Then I helped her prepare the food.

While we're eating, we just had fun and talked a lot. Somebody usually asks me to go get napkins or silverware, which I'm not always happy about but sometimes it's good to help. Sighing, I complied with their wishes, every time someone asked. After everybody finished eating. We talked about how everybody had been since we last saw each other. Not interested in their conversations, I went over to the kitchen, getting some hot steaming  hot chocolate.

Finishing drinking my hot chocolate, I called for my cousin. She came running in the kitchen followed by my grandmother. We grabbed  some cards, going into the living room.

“Let’s play crazy eights,” I said.  Everyone agreed. I passed out the cards and we played.

One game later I sat in misery as my cousin danced around, saying, “I won! I won!”

I stood up, stretching because we had been playing for a while.

I went over to the presents and almost looked inside, but thankfully I didn't.

I started to separate the presents, and moved a heavy present to my aunt’s pile. I felt my cousin tapping on my shoulder saying, “What did you get me?”

I replied,” “I’m not telling!

As we finished separating the presents, I heard my family laughing like crazy and they started to give me a headache. I felt like I needed dessert.

I could smell the monkey bread. It was calling my name. “That would really hit the spot right about now,” I said. I hurried into the kitchen and got a fork and a plate, scooping up a big piece of monkey bread. I ate it before I had time to breathe. It was so good. I couldn't resist it. I just had to have another piece. The next piece was so sweet and warm.

“I’m so bored!” I shouted. ”Can we open presents now?” Everyone agreed. “I am so excited!” I said! We ran to the living room, looking at all the presents. They were so bright and shiny, each and everyone of the presents having a beautiful red bow. We all sat down, opening our presents. The first present I got was a big box of chocolate. I was so excited! The next present I pulled out of my bag was a really soft blanket, “I’ll probably use this every day,” I said. We all continued to open our presents and they were the best.

We all used our presents, having a blast. I got a little hungry so I went to the kitchen and got a snack. I picked out some chips, going back to the living room. I tore the bag open and the bag scrunched together. After that I went to the bathroom to wash my hands; I had a bunch of chip dust on them. I went to the living room and noticed that everyone was still opening presents. They sure do take awhile, I thought to myself.

After everyone finished opening presents, I said, “Thank you!” Everyone did the same.

My dad said, “We have to go home.”

“I don’t want to!” I whined.

“Honey,” my dad said, “It is almost 8:00. We need to go home.”

 I sighed, shrugging. “Okay.”

We hugged, saying goodbye to everyone. I heard cars pull out of the driveway. “This Christmas was so fun and I can’t wait for the next,” I said. We got in our car and drove home, I had so much fun.
