Hello, my name is St.Francis of Assisi. I was born in Italy in the year 1212 into a wealthy family who sold cloth. During my early life, I didn’t really follow God. I was always partying  and drinking at the age of fourteen. When I was twenty, I was in a war and captured by the enemy. While I was in prison, I fell in love with God. I felt bad for the poor so I gave all my clothing, armor, and money away and put on a brown robe and tied a string around it and walked barefoot. 

 

I followed Jesus by serving the poor and healing people and animals with just one touch. I also traveled around preaching about God. I started a group called the Friars Minor where people chose to live as I did. Today, my group is now called the Franciscans. 

 

There are 3 miracles attributed to me. One of the miracles was communicating with animals. I also received the Stigma, the holes in your hands and feet like Jesus had during his crucifixion. I died at the age of 44 from poor health. I became a saint so long ago that no one knows the exact date. My feast day is October 4th. I am the patron saint of animals and ecologists.
