Saint Speech

Hello, my name is St. Kateri Tekakwitha. I was born in 1656, In Ossernenon,  New York. My mother was in the Algonquin tribe, which made me the first Native American Saint. My father was a Mohawk chief. During my early life, I was orphaned in a smallpox epidemic, and the disease left me partially blind. My Mother and brother died from smallpox, when I was only 4 years old. My Father was a Non-Christian, when my mother was. I followed Jesus in many ways. One of the ways was I went to Church daily, and also prayed the rosary. My grandparents forced me to marry, but I refused. I felt The Great Spirit was the only one I could love. I moved to Canada so I could be with other Christians. There is one miracle attributed to me. The miracle was that I saved a little boy from flesh-eating bacteria. I died April, 17th 1680, at the age of 24. I died from eating little food, and terrible headaches. My last words were, “I love you, Jesus.” I became a saint on October 21. My feast day is July 14th. I am the patron saint of John Cabot Catholic School.
